In case of EVE Online, you could link your steam and EVE accounts. I hope ANet goes that way as well, so that existing players can link steam accounts to GW2 accounts and it doesn't matter where you log from. And for steam purchases, you just need some API action on the backend, ANet could do it if they wanted to. 1.
P2W just means if you pay money you have an advantage in PvP. That applies to GW2, it is P2W. Oh yes, if you redefine P2W to mean that, then yes of course it is an advantage. For anyone else P2W means more money spent=more power. In the form of stronger gear, boosters, skipping timegates etc.

Thanks very much for letting us know about the issue that you noted in Guild Wars 2, unfortunately, it is not possible for us Game Masters to alter/change a players team/guild. The next time that you're in the game and you find a bug, you can do us a favor by submitting an in-game bug report.

Tac0 for marker making. Blish Pathing module for actually using. It even has a map pack downloader/updater built-in. Beyond pathing, Blish has a TON more modules that pretty much makes every single other gw2 add-on unnecessary (arcdps still has a place, but blish even bridges to it). MorbidEel.
This or it's because of the gem store transactions that need different financial handling when the game is launched through steam.. Integrating accounts is actually ridiculously simple with Steam's API. Even ANet should have no problem with that. It's just because of money, as the other respondent said.
